Grupo de Trabalho na Cúpula de Mães de Migrantes Desaparecidos

From the Tlaltelolco University Cultural Center, in Mexico City, symbolic place of resistance of pre-hispanic cultures and emblematic space of the student struggle of 1968, we, the organizations and social movements participating in the VIII World Social Forum of Migrations, declare our broadest solidarity with the caravans of men, women, chilren and you who, from Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador, are crossing Mexican territory to escape hunger, structural violence and the multiple forms of forced displacement to which they are being subjected.

We strongly denounce the attempts to block, fragment and contain the migrant caravan, efforts which seek to undermine it and violate the human rights of its members, placing them in a state of defenselessness and putting their lives at imminent risk.

We reject any attempt to criminalize forced migration and turn victims into victimizers. The causes of the mass exodus of Central Americans and many and many other forced migrants around the world, who risk death as they try to cling to life, derive from a capitalist world order (savage and unjust), which is going through a civilizational crisis expressed its greater brutality in the global south.

We demand that the States involved comply with their obligations and that the United Nations guarantee full respect for human rights and immediate humanitarian assistance.

We call on all social movements, trade unions, peasant organizations, indigenous people, women, and youth all over the world to mobilize to express their active solidarity to all the caravans and movements of migrants who fight against barbarism, for human dignity and for the emancipation of our peoples.
