Palestina y Jerusalén Oriental no son comunes para quienes visitan Israel. Pero una nueva tendencia ha ido ganando popularidad entre los turistas independientes que deliberadamente van más allá de los sitios de peregrinación estándar para salir de la burbuja turística.
El concepto de turismo alternativo fue introducido en Palestina por el Grupo de Turismo Alternativo en 1995 después del final de la Primera Intifada (levantamiento palestino de cinco años). En los últimos 10 años, esta tendencia ha crecido con muchos operadores turísticos, ONG y organizaciones de derechos humanos en ambos lados de la Línea Verde que ofrecen recorridos alternativos por Jerusalén Oriental, Palestina y asentamientos israelíes dentro de Cisjordania. Las personas / turistas quieren aprender sobre la cuestión palestina, las realidades políticas y la lucha.
Un aumento en el interés de la comunidad global en Palestina es evidente no solo por el crecimiento de los turistas, sino también por el interés de los operadores turísticos en otros países. La defensa y la educación son una gran parte del trabajo de los operadores turísticos alternativos.
Este taller pedirá a las personas que “vengan y vean” la relación palestina no como simples turistas que siguen el camino que Jesús recorre. Será transformador y será una experiencia político-espiritual que le dará a la gente una comprensión de la política y la justicia.
Palestine and East Jerusalem are not common for those visiting Israel. But a new trend has been steadily gaining popularity among independent tourists who deliberately go beyond the standard pilgrimage sites to step out of the tourist bubble.
The concept of alternative tourism was introduced in Palestine by the Alternative Tourism Group in 1995 after the end of the First Intifada (five-year Palestinian uprising). Over the past 10 years, this trend has grown with many tour operators, NGOs and human rights organisations on both sides of the Green Line offering alternative tours of East Jerusalem, Palestine, and Israeli settlements inside the West Bank. People / tourists want to learn about the Palestinian question, political realities, and the struggle.
An increase in the global community’s interest in Palestine is evident not only from the growth of tourists but also from the interest of tour operators in other countries. Advocacy and education are a large part of the work of alternative tour operators.
This workshop will prompt people to “Come and See” the Palestinian relaity not as mere tourists who follow the path Jesús tread. It will be transformative and be a political-spiritual experience that gives people an understanding of politics and justice.
